Staining and sealing the wine racking can present dramatic results. You can match or contrast other hues within the cellar or home. We stain each component prior to production to eliminate bare spots or overspray that can occur when the racking is stained after production. Clear coating a wood such as sapele can bring out the grain features of the species and seal the wood for protection from use. Here is an example of some scalloped bottle bins made of sapele finished with a clear coat.
Our wine racking is made of a variety of woods. While All-Heart Redwood, Western Red Cedar or Alder are primarily used, we have also built racking with White Oak, Red Oak, Sapele, Walnut, Rustic Hickory, Eastern Hardrock Maple, Cherry, Phillipine Mahogany, Knotty Pine and Poplar.
